Objectives & Mission

• To establish a web-based information center on Sungai Juru for the riverside communities in Sungai Juru basin area as well as the general public who would like to know more about Sungai Juru..
• To raise the awareness level of the public on environment and river pollution currently faced by Sungai Juru.
• To pool more members of the public to be Friends of Sungai Juru to help disseminate information to the public to be more sensitive on the seriousness of water pollution and the importance of preserving Sungai Juru as well as to participate in any environment friendly campaigns, activities and initiatives that help to protect eco-system of our river from further degradation.
• To highlight the plight of about 100 fishermen who depend their livelihood on fisheries at the river mouth of Kuala Sungai Juru.
• To act as a watch group to monitor rehabilitation measures undertaken by the relevant government agencies to revive Sungai Juru as well as new and existing development projects along the riverbanks to ensure that the Sungai Juru reserved area will continue to be maintained in order to preserve its flora and fauna in accordance to the planning provisions of the Draft Local Plan 2010 for Bukit Mertajam area endorsed by the Local Council.
